


Overview
Cynet City is a First-Person Shooter map made in Unreal Engine 4's Unreal Tournament editor. Inspired by Sci-Fi media such as TRON, it was the first major level I designed. The map is centered around the Capture the Flag game mode, where players from one team must infiltrate the opposing teams base to retrieve the objective.
This project was made in March 2018, taking approximately two and a half weeks.


Role & Responsibilities
As the level designer, I was responsible for designing the level layout between the two key objectives, waypoints, landmarks, signifiers and key choke points for combat encounters.
Using assets provided by the Unreal Engine, I was able to create the building and emissive materials for guiding players. I also created additional materials, particle effects and post-processing volumes.
Level Design
The central tower provides a landmark for players to orient themselves around, as well as the symbol and particle effect above, which highlight a sniper rifle at a key vantage point. There are also varying degrees of elevation that can be accessed via interior elevators and exterior staircases to gain vantage points.
I used both blue and orange emissives along the paths to distinguish between team territories, so that players will immediately know which side of the map they're on.
